Straight Street

One thing I like about the Bible is names. I also like how the Lord gets people's attention and the way He does things.

Straight Street is one of those names that make me smile every time I think about it. The way the Lord got Saul's attention and then put a believer and a persecutor of believers together is amazing!

Saul,  also called Paul, would become an apostle and become the author of many of the letters in the New Testament. But before Christians began quoting from his letters, The Lord straightened him out, put him on Straight Street, and sent help (Acts 9:11)

The Lord wasn't pleased with Saul's ways.

First He got Saul's attention.

Then the Lord led Saul to straight street and left him there praying while He told Ananias to go meet with Saul.

Ananias was cautious. He knew Saul was killing believers, but he obeyed the Lord and went-that is an act of faith and obedience!

Ananias was praying when Jesus told him to go, I have often wondered if Ananias was praying about persecuted believers and/or about the persecutors. Maybe it was Saul he was praying for. I don't know, but Jesus sent him to help a persecutor who had been straightened out and put on straight street. :)
